Robert Appelbaum
As a Co-Founder of ABR Global Ventures, Robert brings over four decades of experience to advise ABRGV’s clients on global hospitality opportunities and transactions. He is a highly recognized and accomplished lawyer and advisor, having practiced across Africa, India, and Southeast Asia.
Robert was the Honorary Business Representative for IE Singapore (the government of Singapore’s agency responsible for the external economy of Singapore), where he was responsible for Sub-Saharah Africa. He has represented most major Indian companies in their pan-African operations as well as several governments including Namibia, South Africa, India, Singapore, and United States of America. He has represented numerous hotel groups and wildlife lodge companies across Africa.
Robert is a director of (I) Access to Advanced Health Institute, a Seattle based non-profit biotech research institute focused on creating sustainable, cost-effective, and practically accessible vaccines and immunotherapies; (II) Desmond Tutu Health Foundation. (the leading international HIV institution); (III) IRD South Africa (part of IRD Global, a Singapore based NPO), a NPO involved in global health delivery and research; and (IV) several hotel and lodge companies including the Extraordinary Resorts and Hotels Group and Mabula Game Reserve.
Robert has also been recognized in several international journals including Chambers Global, Legal 500 and Best Lawyers as an expert in several legal fields. Robert has BA and LLB degrees from the University of the Witwatersrand. He is the co-author of two books, namely “Public Offers of Company Securities” and of “Business Rescue and Compromise Offers”.
